Cannabis habits

Providing an exact, clear-cut illustration of the extent of the drug problem in Sweden is difficult, due in part to the fact that all non-medical handling of narcotics is a criminal offense, but also because drug use is a complex issue.

Narcotics use entails markedly elevated risks of various kinds of injury and damage. Its harmful effects can be medical or social, and they can be acute or only arise after prolonged use.

In the National Public Health Survey, only questions regarding cannabis use are asked since it is the most widely used narcotic preparation in Sweden.
