Thematic conference in Mental health in youth and education
Stockholm, 29-30th of September 2009
The Swedish presidency and the European Commission will together arrange a Thematic conference in Mental health in youth and education in Stockholm 29-30th of September 2009. Together with four additional thematic conferences, this conference will be a key element in the implementation of the European Pact for Mental Health and Well-being. The Swedish National Institute of Public Health is responsible for the practical arrangements, planning of the content and implementation of the conference. The conference will be attended by 200 invited participants from a variety of backgrounds (policy makers, researchers, practitioners and young people that are active in the field).
The conference will pursue three objectives:
- Raise visibility about the importance of promoting mental health and well-being and of preventing mental disorders in youth and education
- Enable an exchange at EU-level on policy activities, good practices by stakeholders and research projects in Member States, supported by a Commission database
- Endorse an implementation framework for the Mental Health Pact in the field of mental health in youth and education
The conference will focus on five themes:
- parents and the early years
- educational settings and learning
- the community environment
- the role of media and internet
- the role of health services in promotion and prevention.
