EU expert conference on alcohol

Date: 21-22 September 2009
Venue: Norra Latin, Stockholm

Focus: Impact of marketing on alcohol-related harm, economic costs of harmful alcohol consumption and impact on economic development, alcohol consumption and harm among elderly, impact of hazardous drinking on other’s than the drinker, etc.

A parallel programme will allow a broader public to attend the conference than only expert representatives from MS. The Swedish National Institute of Public Health (SNIPH) will be actively involved in the parallel programme with activities on:

  1. Early Identification and Brief Intervention (EIBI). The successful implementation of the national EIBI projects on maternal care, child health care, and occupational health services will be presented.
  2. Responsible beverage service. The successful Swedish method with its 3 essential parts will be presented.
  3. Alcohol and ageing. Knowledge base, future scenario and implications.
