Support when selling tobacco
2011-03-15
As a part of the “National Tobacco Project”, the Swedish National Institute of Public Health has prepared information materials for those who sell tobacco products. These materials serve as a support to business operators and their staff to make it easier to comply with the sales regulations of the Tobacco Act, and as an aid in municipal supervisory efforts.
Based on changes in the Swedish Tobacco Act that entered into effect on 1 August 2010 concerning more effective supervision and better compliance to the 18-year age limit, the Swedish National Institute of Public Health has prepared the brochure "Selling tobacco". It contains general information concerning the rules that apply to the sale of tobacco products and concludes with practical advice for sales and advice on the business operator's self-regulation. This practical advice is also available separately in a folder and an information sheet to make the information even more easily available and user friendly.
The brochure, folder and information sheet can be downloaded from our website and is also available in translation to seven different languages: Arabic, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, English, Northern Kurdish, Spanish, Southern Kurdish and Turkish.
As a support in the local supervision work, the Swedish National Institute of Public Health has prepared basic material for tobacco supervision, including a proposed template for a self-regulation programme for tobacco sales. This material is also available in translation to the aforementioned languages.
